An EV roadshow is coming to East Texas next week, and Conservative Texans for Energy Innovation is helping to organize it.

EV convoy in East Texas

From January 29 to 31, the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (TxETRA), Texas Electric School Bus Bus Project, and the Conservative Texans for Energy Innovation will lead a convoy of electric vehicles (EVs) across East Texas. The itinerary includes stops in Beaumont on January 29, Longview on January 30, and Texarkana on January 31.

The primary objective of this EV roadshow is to provide public education about EVs, address queries, offer firsthand experiences through ride-and-drive sessions, and encourage applications for grants and incentives, such as the $7,500 EV tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act. Additionally, the initiative aims to advocate for the positive economic impact of EVs on the US economy.

Buzz Smith, representing the Texas Electric Transportation Resource Alliance, emphasized that the showcase involves more than just displaying electric cars, including an innovative electric school bus. The goal is to present a comprehensive plan for electrifying the state, particularly in East Texas, with a focus on boosting the local economy, fostering collaboration with neighbors, and providing genuine insights into EVs.

The convoy will feature a diverse lineup, including a Rivian R1S SUV, a Tesla Model Y, a Hummer EV, and a Blue Bird electric school bus. Notably, in September 2023, the coalition conducted a similar EV convoy through West Texas, conveying the message that it is acceptable for conservatives in oil and gas-centric regions to support electric vehicles.
