The muscle vehicle endures. Dodge is presenting the Charger EV, which will go into pre-production later this year, to us for the first time. The latest images show off an electric muscle car with a macho appearance right out of a Fast and Furious film.
Dodge teases new Charger EV photos
The legendary Charger will continue to exist in the electric era, despite Dodge's announcement that it will be retired in 2021.
With the 2022 Dodge Charger Daytona SRT "Banshee" concept, Dodge provided us a preview of what it would look like.
The carmaker wants "Banshee" to become just as well-known as its Redeye, Hellcat, and Hemi names. With an eRupt gearbox that simulates a "jerk" while shifting gears, the idea maintained the true appearance and feel of muscle vehicles. There was also a false exhaust on it.
Dodge's idea included an 800V system with all-wheel drive. Three base variants are expected to be offered for the production version, according to a more recent report.
As to the report, the STLA Large platform will serve as the foundation for the Dodge Charger EV. There will be two base versions with a 400V system that has 455 horsepower. With a Direction Connection Kit, you may increase the horsepower to 535.
Upgrading to a higher trim might result in an increase in horsepower to 670 from 590. We will have to wait till Dodge releases the final information later this year on the top 800V model.
On Friday, Dodge posted the first pre-production photos of the Charger EV on its social media platforms.
The electric muscle vehicle appears to be somewhat similar to the concept unveiled in 2022, based on what is seen. As the front badge, Dodge's Fratzog emblem is prominently lighted. And the iconic light bar is still there.
The broad stance and striking logos of the Dodge Charger EV are carried over from its predecessor. The name "Daytona" is clearly visible on the rear of the car.
According to Dodge, the car will go on sale in late 2024. Details regarding the powertrain will not be revealed until closer to debut. With its most recent teaser, further information is probably on the way. Return soon for additional.
