WAVE Charging, in collaboration with Kenworth and Dana Incorporated, has achieved the first OEM-approved high-power wireless charging integration for electric trucks. The wireless charging technology has been successfully integrated into Kenworth's K270E and K370E model Class 6 electric trucks, marking a significant milestone in the commercial electric vehicle (EV) landscape.
The "OEM-approved" status is crucial, as non-approved wireless charging add-ons can risk voiding manufacturer warranties. WAVE Charging's integration has received approval from both the OEM (Paccar Kenworth) and the systems provider, Dana. This ensures that fleet customers interested in exploring WAVE's wireless charging solution can do so without compromising the warranties on their electric trucks.
The collaboration between WAVE Charging, Kenworth, Dana, and Inland Kenworth (the selling dealer) is described as a significant leap forward in the commercial EV industry. The achievement is seen as setting a new standard and offering a unique selling point for Kenworth and its dealers in the competitive commercial electric truck market.
Robin Mackie, Chief Operating Officer of WAVE's parent company Ideanomics, stated that the integration opens up possibilities for OEMs, dealers, and logistics companies seeking cutting-edge solutions in the electric truck sector. The success of this integration positions WAVE Charging as a market leader in driving innovation in high-power wireless charging for electric vehicles.
