The 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 may be substantially less expensive to purchase than the updated Tesla Model 3 Highand thanks to a recent special cash offer. Hyundai is providing a 2024 IONIQ 6 buyer's incentive of $7,500. That is for purchase, not leasing, as in earlier agreements.
2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 offer drastically lowers prices
On the Hyundai website, it states that a $7,500 Retail Bonus Cash offer is available for all 2024 IONIQ 6 models. It is similar to getting the complete electric vehicle tax credit when making a new purchase.
With the cash incentive, the MSRP of $38,615 for the IONIQ 6 might drop to little over $30,000 ($31,115), making it one of the most reasonably priced EVs available. By contrast, the starting price of the new Tesla Model 3 Highland (including destination) is $40,380.
Tesla's Model 3 is no longer qualified for the IRA tax credit, similar to the IONIQ 6. Following the implementation of new regulation modifications on January 1st, the eligibility for the basic and Long Range Model 3 trims was lost. The whole $7,500 is still available for the Performance variant.
Hyundai's IONIQ 6 is now about $9,300 less expensive to purchase than the new Tesla Model 3 thanks to the deal. Already $4,100 less expensive than the model from the previous year is the Hyundai IONIQ 6.

Hyundai said that "production efficiencies and scale" are to blame for the cheaper costs. Put differently, Hyundai is improving the quality of its EVs and passing the savings along to customers.
Hyundai's website states that the agreement expires on January 31, 2024. All Hyundai IONIQ 6 trims from 2024 that are purchased by the end of the month are eligible. Additionally, Hyundai is increasing its leasing offer on the IONIQ 5 electric SUV, with savings of up to $15,000.
The announcement follows a record-breaking year for Hyundai car sales in the US. In 2023, Hyundai sold over 47,000 IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 cars. In terms of US EV sales in 2023, Hyundai Motor Group (which includes Kia and Genesis) came in second place, just behind Tesla.
