Porsche Taycan sales increased until the end of 2023, with more than 40,600 electric vehicles delivered last year. In 2023, the Taycan outsold the Porsche 911 by double digits.
Porsche Taycan sales growth in 2023
"The Taycan is and will remain a success story," said Porsche's Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Lutz Meschke, in October.
Last year, Porsche delivered 40,629 Taycan electric vehicles, a 17% increase over 2022. Last year, the Taycan achieved the second-highest sales rise in Porsche's portfolio, after only the historic 911 (+24%).
In 2023, the premium sports car manufacturer delivered 320,221 vehicles, a 3% increase year on year (YOY). The all-electric Porsche Taycan accounted for around 13% of the total. That is almost the same as 2022.
Porsche shipped more vehicles in every location except China last year. China deliveries plummeted 15%, with North America overtaking China as Porsche's largest market.
Taycan deliveries increased in the final three months of 2023, with over 12,700 delivered in Q4. Through the first half of 2023, Porsche's only EV represented 10.8% of sales, surpassing ICE cars until the conclusion of the year.
With 87,553 units sold last year, the Porsche Cayenne remained the top seller. However, that figure is expected to fall by 8% by 2022. Porsche's Macan came in second, with 87,335 units delivered in 2023.
What’s next for Porsche
The all-electric Porsche Macan is finally set to go on sale this year, after several years of delays.
Last month, Porsche unveiled the much-anticipated Macan EV. The Macan EV has a WLTP range of up to 310 miles (500 km) based on its new PPE platform.

With over 600 horsepower and tough off-road capabilities, the carmaker promises its electric SUV will be the "sportiest in its segment." With a charging capability of up to 270 kW, the Macan EV can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 22 minutes.
The Macan EV will be Porsche's second all-electric vehicle, following the Taycan. It was supposed to be released in 2022, but technical concerns caused significant delays.
Following the Macan, an electric 718 Boxster is scheduled in 2025. We first saw the fast EV last month when it was discovered testing at the Nurburgring (watch it race around the circuit on two wheels).
During the launch of the Macan EV, Porsche released a graphic depicting an electric Cayenne joining the lineup as the fourth electric vehicle. It is scheduled to make its debut in 2026.
