Porsche-Macan-EV-range

The long-awaited all-electric Porsche Macan EV has been officially unveiled by the German automaker. Porsche introduced the electric SUV, showcasing an impressive WLTP range of up to 381 miles (613 km), a combination of sports car performance, and enhanced interior space.

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume expressed enthusiasm during the launch, stating, "We are taking the Macan to a completely new level." The introduction of the electric Macan fulfills a promise made by Porsche in 2019 to deliver an all-electric version of the popular Macan SUV.

Joining the Taycan in Porsche's electric vehicle lineup, the Macan is anticipated to play a significant role in the brand's transition to electric mobility. While the Taycan has been successful for Porsche, the Macan, with its SUV design, is expected to have broader appeal and potentially become a major contributor to Porsche's electric vehicle sales.

Leading up to the official unveiling, Porsche had been building anticipation with prototype tests and design sketches throughout the month. Leaked images had already provided a sneak peek at the Macan's appearance.

Now, with the official release, Porsche introduces the Macan 4 EV and Macan Turbo. Both models feature the classic Porsche design and performance characteristics, offering long-range capabilities, fast-charging capabilities, and practicality for everyday driving. The Macan EV is a significant step for Porsche as it continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio.

Meet the all-electric Porsche Macan EV

"Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan," Jörg Kerner, Vice President of the Macan product line, remarked.

Porsche's new Macan will be offered in two trim levels. Both the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo EVs have dual-motor AWD for increased performance.

The entry-level Porsche Macan EV produces up to 402 horsepower (300 kW) and 479 pound-feet of torque (with overboost) and has a WLTP range of up to 381 miles (613 kilometers). Meanwhile, the Macan Turbo produces up to 630 horsepower (470 kW) and 833 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds.

With a WLTP range of up to 367 miles (591 km), the Macan Turbo has a somewhat shorter range than the faster model. The peak speeds of the two electric SUVs are 161 mph (260 km/h) and 136 mph (220 km/h).

The 800V PPE platform, which was co-developed by Audi, makes its premiere with the new electric SUV. A 100 kWh lithium-ion battery (95 kWh useable) powers the electric motors.

The Macan EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 21 minutes with DC fast charging up to 270 kW. A high-voltage switch divides the battery into two at 400V stations so that they may be charged efficiently.

A sports car in its segment

Porsche's iconic design cues may be seen on the new Macan EV. For maximum efficiency, the brand did, however, significantly modify the car.

"The design makes it clear: The Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in electric form," stated Michael Mauer, vice president of Porsche Style.

Porsche has reinvented the dynamic, athletic, and contemporary Macan design for the electric age. The Macan EV is somewhat longer than the gas-powered model, measuring 188′′ (4,784 mm) in length. At 63′′ (1,622 mm), it is almost the same height, but the wheelbase is 3.4′′ (86 mm) longer.

With a drag coefficient of 0.25, the new Macan EV is "one of the most streamlined SUVs on the market."

With the Porsche mark now positioned in the center of a 3D light strip, the SUV has an ultramodern, sleek appearance. In the meanwhile, there are two separate headlamps. The car's wing-mounted flat top light has four-point DRLs integrated into it. Below are the major matrix LED headlights.

Rear-axle steering and an optional air suspension system with two-valve dampers—which are standard on the Macan Turbo—are features of Porsche's electrified SUV.

The Interior

According to Porsche, the new Macan EV has a roomy cabin, long-range capabilities, and is built for daily usage.

There is more room for baggage in the new Macan. There is a maximum cargo capacity of 19 cubic feet (540 L), depending on the model. A three cubic foot (84 L) frunk capacity is also included. That's an additional 136 L, or over five cubic feet, of cargo capacity.

Porsche claims that the Macan's 4,409 lbs (200 kg) maximum towing capability "rounds off the highly practical qualities" of the new SUV.

The interior of the all-electric Porsche Macan is described as "unmistakably a Porsche," featuring a driver-focused cockpit. It incorporates a combination of physical controls and Porsche's latest operating system, boasting up to three screens. Notable elements include the Cayenne-like free-standing 12.6" curved instrument display and a 10.9" infotainment screen.

In a departure from previous designs, the Macan introduces an additional 10.9" screen that allows passengers to access information, adjust settings, or stream content. Porsche has also introduced a head-up display with virtual reality for the first time. The new infotainment system is built on Android Auto, integrated with Porsche Communication Management.

The pricing for the Porsche Macan EV starts at $78,800, while the Turbo model is priced at $105,300, excluding a $1,650 delivery fee. The electric Macan is now available for order, and deliveries are expected to commence in the second half of the year.
