At a record-breaking rate, EVs are developing. For 2023 models, the median EV range was 270 miles. That is well than enough to cover the typical weekly commute for drivers in the US, and it is 13 miles greater than 2022MY automobiles.
2023 median EV range covers an average week’s drive
In order to increase the range and efficiency of electric vehicles, automakers are creating new technologies and materials.
The median EV range for cars made in the 23 model year was 270 miles, according to EPA statistics. That is almost 200 miles farther than it was ten years prior (82). Additionally, it's more than enough for the typical US weekly commute.
The Department of Transportation reports that the typical motorist in the United States drives around 37 miles per day.
Most EVs have enough range to last your weekly commute, with an average of 259 miles driven. And it's better for homes to wake up to a full charge than to make a gas station stop.
Manufacturers are introducing new, extended-range electric vehicles (EVs), such as the 516-mile EPA-estimated Lucid Air Grand Touring.
Even though range is frequently mentioned as one of the main deterrents for purchasing an electric vehicle, a lot of EVs on the market now provide more than 300 miles. Last year, more than 25 electric vehicles achieved a 300-mile milestone. That is almost twice as many as it was two years ago.
The number is anticipated to rise once further this year with the introduction of many new models, such as Jeep's Wagoneer S, which is anticipated to have a 400 mile range. These are the EVs with the longest range in 2024.
