GM Energy will provide FreeWire's unique charging options to fleets through a new relationship

FreeWire Technologies, a budding EV charging company, has acquired a big participant in the automotive sector to enable it reach more clients with its turnkey charging solutions. FreeWire announced today that it has teamed with GM Energy to enable the former install ultra-fast EV chargers to commercial and fleet clients in the United States.

Although we’ve just been following FreeWire Technologies for the past year or two, the EV fast charging and energy management solutions firm was launched in 2014. During its decade-long reign, it has helped to accelerate the world's shift to electric cars by providing more effective charging options.

FreeWire currently develops and sells a line of turnkey battery-integrated piles known as Boost Chargers, as well as proprietary management software that allows them to operate after installation using existing low-voltage and low-power grid connections while maintaining DC EV charging performance levels.

Last summer, FreeWire Technologies relaunched Mobilyze Pro, an AI platform purchased in late 2022, as software that can assist companies forecast the optimal areas to deploy EV chargers.

With an expanding portfolio of Boost Chargers and software to support that technology and the customers that use it, FreeWire Technologies hopes to accelerate its growth with the aid of GM Energy.

GM Energy to begin offering FreeWire EV chargers soon

FreeWire announced the specifics of its new relationship with GM in a news statement this morning, stating that its residential and commercial charging arm, GM Energy, will begin delivering its products soon.

By integrating its Boost Chargers into GM Energy's energy management ecosystem, FreeWire hopes to provide more US customers with a simple solution for electric transportation, particularly those who may lack the local grid capacity, funding, or permitting requirements to install a more traditional charging pile. According to FreeWire creator and CEO Arcady Sosinov:

We applaud the work that GM Energy is doing to drive the national energy transition and provide holistic solutions to their customers. This collaboration between FreeWire and GM Energy will provide customers with a comprehensive electrification solution that helps them efficiently transition to a more sustainable future.

In addition to its partnership with GM Energy, FreeWire reports that the arrangement allows GM's business-focused Envolve arm to provide comprehensive energy solutions to its commercial clients. According to FreeWire, GM Energy plans to provide its Boost Chargers to clients in early 2024.
